Survivors of Sexual Assault & Other Abuse Help

Rape is a crime and must be stopped. The law is supposed to help but there really isn't strong enough laws or punishment for this crime. We live with it for the rest of our lives and are put through hell if we decide to go to the police and to court. My family and others have had a hard time being supportive because they don't understand and don't to want to understand. They don't want to listen and don't want to help which is fine because you can find help for these things in many places. I wanted to share with everyone resources on the Internet to help others like myself who have a rough time finding support from their families or the people who say they love them.

Symptoms of Emotional Abuse

Your depression may be caused by emotional abuse. Read about the symptoms and learn how your partner might be undermining your self-esteem. An abusive partner will railroad discussions, so that you don't have time to think about what's right and what's wrong in their behavior.

Verbal Abuse Support Resources - Groups

Verbal Abuse of Children, The Web site for Information on Verbal Abuse, by author Patricia Evans. The Verbal Abuse web site ushers in a new millennium of increased awareness. It reflects our growing knowledge of verbal abuse--one of the worst forms of abuse anyone can experience in any ongoing relationship or association. It serves as a link to resources and information about verbal abuse. The site will grow and change as we gather information. Indeed, it was only as recently as 1992 that verbally abusive relationships were named and described.

Working to Halt Online Abuse

The mission of WHOA is to educate the Internet community about online harassment, empower victims of harassment, and formulate voluntary policies that systems administrators can adopt in order to create harassment-free environments. WHOA fully supports the right to free speech both online and off, but asserts that free speech is not protected when it involves threats to the emotional or physical safety of anyone. WHOA further asserts that online harassment is about power in a community: a power structure that has tended to accept or ignore harassment rather than actively seek to cease it. Our volunteers work with people currently experiencing online harassment, and help others to learn how to avoid such harassment or minimize its impact if it does occur. Our president, Jayne Hitchcock, regularly speaks at various conferences and seminars, training law enforcement personnel and other interested parties. She also lobbies for better federal and state laws to deter cyberstalkers and give victims more options to stop harassment.

Abuse Help - Dissociative Disorder Support Group

This support group is being offered to those people who have been diagnosed with any of the dissociative disorders such as DID, dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue, etc. Dissociation can be defined on a continuum. On one end try to imagine yourself driving down the highway. Suddenly you have arrived at your destination but you cannot recall how you got there. You went through several traffic lights but you don't even recall whether the lights were red or green or how you made it to your destination. This is a form of mild dissociation and everyone does this. Continuing along this spectrum you can find yourself being very forgetful quite often. On the opposite end you would find dissociation defined as multiplicity which is now known as DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). DID is not an illness nor is it a disease. The individuals that have been diagnosed with this disorder are not crazy. They are survivors of severe childhood trauma and the long-term effects have caused these individuals problems on how to process current information and react to everyday life. If you would like to seek support or offer support to others with DID or other dissociative disorders please join our group. Anyone looking for info for projects, surveys, or is NOT legitmately DID (or believe they are but are not diagnosed yet) or a supporter of one are not welcome.

Join us on this list and email with others who understand your needs and wants. Seek support from others and be there to support them through their difficult times too. Anyone looking for info for projects, surveys, or is NOT legitmately verbally, physically, or mentally abused or NOT a supporter of one are not welcome.
