Embracing Your Abundance: Making Everything You Do Obsolete
Posted on Thursday, March 10 @ 09:49:18 PST by Editor
BusinessWhether you own your own business or work for someone else’s business, the advice I give in the marketing course I teach for the International Association of Professional Organizers (IAPO), is timely advice that will help you expand your prosperity consciousness. At the same time, this advice may seem extremely radical on the surface. Bear with me ...

It is my belief that a good marketing plan should be designed to make everything you do obsolete.

When you are in business your goal should be to eliminate a problem that a client is experiencing. Therefore, setting up the right and perfect strategies for your clients means that in the long run those clients should never have need of your products or services again.

They might have need of different services, such as creating a records retention policy, or doing records management/maintenance on files each year, or they might need in house training to demonstrate to new employees how to use the systems that have been implemented.

For homes, they might need a home inventory, or they might need an emergency plan, or they might need a room converted to another purpose after a child goes away to college, or after the client moves to a smaller/larger space, during a transition, after inheriting a bunch of stuff from relatives, etc.

However, the original activity – the original product or service they came to you for -- should no longer be something they need.

For instance, when I wrote my book Bounce Back From Bankruptcy, I then looked at my marketing plan from the standpoint of 'what can I do to make this product obsolete?' The answer: Create a product or service that would provide them with information and skills to avoid getting into the position financially where bankruptcy is a necessity.

This then led to the creation of my Break the Debt Cycle For Good workshop. In posing the question again, about how to make BTDC obsolete, I determined that the answer was to create a product or service that would help them change the way they think and feel about money BEFORE they got into debt.

And so I created my Heal Your Relationship With Money workbook, workshop and booklet (soon to be a book). Then I posed the question again: how to make HYRWM obsolete, and came up with getting people started on a healthy relationship with money right away. And Giving Thanks: The Art of Tithing was born.

With my coaching, I evolved from coaching that was oriented mostly toward credit counseling and bankruptcy recovery, to coaching that deals more with financial planning, goal setting, clear communication in relationships and recognizing and releasing self-sabotaging activities.

Evolution is the key if you want your business to succeed or your work to make a difference. Look at what IBM originally manufactured. If they hadn't had Research and Development hard at work making their products obsolete, they would have been out of business by now. Same with Ford buggies and buggy whips just don't have a big market today.

Change is the only constant in business. Change with it and your business (and your life) will prosper in incredible ways.

MARCH INTENTION:

I see you fully and completely recognizing all the abundance that exists in your life today. I see you fully and completely at ease with your finances. I see you easily and effortlessly choosing peace rather than worry in every situation in your life. I see you fully and completely at peace with the progress you are making in every area of your life, secure in the knowledge that everything regarding this learning process is unfolding in divine order and in divine timing, for your highest good, now. I see you open and receptive to the incredible joy that exists in change. I see you easily and effortlessly stepping up to honor yourself with every decision you make. This or something better now manifests in your life for the highest good of all. And so it is!
