| The Deeper Reality Behind Rumsfeld's Resignation |
As Don Rumsfeld is tossed overboard by the panicky Bushes (who value loyalty to themselves above all other virtues but never, ever, practice it toward others; there will be many more bodies left behind as the Family rallies to clean up Junior's mess again), Steve Gilliard steps in to
remind us that what we are actually dealing with here is not politics,
not some Beltway horse race, or some idiotic media game of "who's up,
who's down." The issue is mass murder -- thousands of Americans,
hundreds of thousands of Iraqis -- and human suffering beyond imagining
for millions more.

| Spiritually Informed Political Activism |
Many people are asking me what we can do to make a difference in our current world situation. Like a dream, our situation is fluid, impermanent and multi-dimensional. On one level, we need to connect with each other and stand up against Bush’s policies as much as we are able, as his policies are creating endless unnecessary suffering, deprivation and destruction for millions of people. Bush and Co. are completely mad. They are giving shape and form to what it is to be criminally insane.
The Bush Administration’s abuse of power literally demands us to learn new ways to step into our own creative power. Standing up against Bush, though profoundly important and necessary, is itself only part of the solution. We need to step into our roles as ‘spiritually informed political activists,’ where spiritual understanding in-forms our actions in the world.

| It is not only Iraq that is occupied. America is too |
More Americans are beginning to feel, like the soldiers in Iraq, that something is terribly wrong. More and more every day the lies are being exposed. And then there is the largest lie, that everything the US does is to be pardoned because we are engaged in a "war on terrorism", ignoring the fact that war is itself terrorism, that barging into homes and taking away people and subjecting them to torture is terrorism, that invading and bombing other countries does not give us more security but less.

| AN OPEN LETTER TO GEORGE BUSH |
Dear George,
You don’t mind if I call you George do you? When you sent me a letter offering your condolences on the death of my son, Spc. Casey Austin Sheehan, in the illegal and unjust war on Iraq, you called me Cindy, so I naturally assume we are on a first name basis ...

| Bush Gives Energy Plan Final Push |
President Bush used an appearance at a Virginia biodiesel plant last week to campaign for passage of his energy plan, part of which calls for increasing the production of alternative fuels to reduce dependence on foreign oil sources. The President cited a federal study projecting that renewables, like biodiesel (which comes from plant material) and alcohol-based ethanol, could provide as much as a fifth of the nation's transportation fuel by 2030.

| Li'l Johnnie's Jihad Page - Really, Really Bad Theology |

The so-called "civilized" countries of the world are now embroiled in what looks to be a decades-long struggle against a world-wide Islamist insurgency, which some academics are now calling, the "Global Salafist Jihad." If the Cold War was World War III, then this is World War IV ...

| Improve Reality! From Original Sin to Humanifest Destiny |
In the aftermath of the 9/11 attack, a high-ranking military official inadvertently told the truth when he blamed the attack on “a failure of human intelligence.” Truer words have rarely been spoken. With all of the spiritual wisdom and technical know-how available to us to create peace and plenty on this planet, why do we spend so much of our precious livelihood on weapons of deadlihood? No wonder the ‘hood is so deadly. Not much applied human intelligence there!

| Let’s Elect Ourselves! Time to Act Like Citizens, Not Subjects |

“Government of the people, by the people, for the people . . . people — hey, that’s us!” Great news! We don’t need a revolution in America. We already had one, thank you. Those very enlightened documents, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights, safeguard our right to freely exercise our will — or, our won’t — in any way that makes us happy yet tramples no one else’s freedom ...

| No New Money for Abstinence-Only-Until-Marriage Programs |
Abstinence-only-until-marriage education has been taught for over two decades and yet there is still no peer-reviewed research that proves it is effective. Government funding of abstinence-only-until-marriage programs is not new. In fact, the federal government has poured large sums of money into such programs for the past 20 years ...

Most people who think carefully understand that Americans are not really any more jingoistic or xenophobic than people in other countries, but it never hurts to reinforce, especially considering what happened on November 2nd, 2004. What must it have looked like to the world outside our borders? America proudly re-appointed her reckless, incompetent and corrupt government. How much of America? Fifty-two percent. The rest of us are aghast and dismayed.

| Some Enviros Optimistic, Others Fear Bush's Second Term |
Not surprisingly, President Bush has thus far failed to mention the environment in discussions about his second-term agenda. But even though the White House will be focusing primarily on foreign policy and domestic economic issues, some environmentalists are optimistic that the administration will work to leave an environmental legacy to be proud of during its second term.

Just three days after the presidential election, Sierra Club National Media Director Kerri Glover told E, "There is virtually no news organization that hasn't called us and asked, 'Don't you think the environment is screwed under another four years of Bush?'" Glover says she wishes reporters and news anchors had made a bigger deal about environmental issues before the election, instead of after.
