Dreams: Art of the Collective
Unconscious
http://members.aol.com/gbt1/
A web site that takes dreams and
illustrates them. Beautiful
collection of artistically rendered
dreams by Gail Bixler-Thomas
"DREAMS: Art of the Collective
Unconscious" invites dreamers to
connect with their dreams by
creating art and through
self-interpretation. Artwork and
interpretations (of real people) are
shared on this site. The dream
project was developed to raise
general consciousness of the
importance of dreaming via an
Internet web site. Verbal
invitations and email were used to
gather volunteer participants. The
following instructions were given:
Record in writing a recent or
recurring dream, in first person and
present tense. Express the dream
with a drawing or other art form.
Record the emotions associated with
the dream. Study the dream-inspired
artwork and provide a written
interpretation. Provide first name,
age, occupation and geographic
location. Dreams were collected,
digitized, formatted and made
available on the Internet.
Supporting
materials - including historical
information, dream theories and a
summary of new research - were also
prepared and placed online.
Pegasus Dreaming -- Dream Poetry
http://www.suite101.com/myhome.cfm/PegasusDreaming
This site is devoted to exploring
the rich symbol systems of dreams,
poetry and Tarot and how we use
these creatively. E.g., there are
articles on exploring our dreams
with The Tarot, using dreams as a
basis for poetry, on applying Feng
Shui principles to dreams, and on a
dream in which Tarot images
appeared. There is also a collection
of poems based on dreams, a forum
for posting and discussing dreams,
reviews and announcements related to
dreams, and an online chat
capability.
Dreamscaping
http://www.dreamscaping.com/
Here's something interesting and
different - interactive
three-dimensional dream paintings!
Entitled the "Dreamscaping Series",
these are original digital paintings
that have been made 3-dimensional so
that you can actually get inside of
them. The experience is very
dream-like as you take to flight as
a bird, float in mid-air as a
balloonist, or dive into the water
and swim around as a fish. You can
also simply go for a walk around
these virtual worlds as a human form
if you like. All transformations are
automatic depending on where you are
in the dream. These paintings, in
fact, move more towards being a "dreamulation"
where the participant becomes the
motivating force within the
imaginative set and settings
created.
REM Rebound
http://www.remrebound.com/
This site is a place to check out
dreams and dream-inspired art, and
share your own. The key feature is
that visitors are welcome to use any
images or ideas they find in the
dreams posted on the site for their
own art or writing. The idea behind
that being that dreams are a form of
spontaneous, raw art-stuff, and
since you don't have to work for
your dreams, you can't really claim
ownership of them

Exploring Sleep Paralysis
http://www.eden.com/~sbonham/Sse.htm
Sleep paralysis is a condition that
happens during the onset of sleep or
awakening. The sleep and awakening
onsets are key for many people who
like to have the experience of
"leaving the physical body", with
awareness, or also called "entrance
into lucid-dream from the awaken
state" by LaBerge's school. Sleep
paralyis is one the phenomena one
might experience in this situation,
which might be accompanied by
"dream-like hallucinations".However,
the fact that the person is
conscious and unable to move, can be
frightening. Author Sirley Marques
Bonham was appalled when she first
entered the sleep forum from the
University of California Los
Angeles, where she read the many
accounts of people having sleep
paralysis, and thinking they could
be going crazy. Some of them even
ended up being treated for a
pathology that didn't exist, due to
the ignorance of the psychoanalyst,
or sleep professional). It was from
there that she learned
aboutJean-Christophe Terrillon, a
Canadian bio-physicist who now works
in Kioto, Japan. They had many
discussions about these phenomena,
before they deciced to write a paper
together.This paper was presented at
the meeting of the Society for
Scientific Exploration in
Charlottesville, North Carolina.
