Before you read this, it is very important that you read the Terms and Conditions, Whispy.com's Web Directory Terms Of Service (if you're interested in a reciprocal link partnership), and, if you're interested what advertising opportunities might be available with us, Whispy.com's General Advertising Policy.

please note: The facts and opinions expressed on the discussion boards belong to those members who posted them and not Whispy.com as a site, nor its operators, nor the other members of the site.

Forums, Topics and Messages.

Think of the forums as the general subject areas on the boards. Each forum has its own tone and related subject matter and themes. There are six forums

Topics

Topics are the discussion points within the forums. Each forum can have many different topics. For example under "Culture Club" you may find topics about Bridget Jones, recent art exhibitions or how Arsenal is doing.

How do I get involved in a discussion?

To get involved you will need to post a message. Go to the forum page and click on the forum that interests you. On the next page you will see a number of topics, click on the one you want to read. This will bring up the messages that have been posted. Messages are listed in the order that they are posted, first post at the top of the page.

If the topic has more than one page of posts, you can click on the page numbers to jump straight to the selected page. (If you've read the topic before, you may want to jump straight to the last page to catch up on the latest posts). Page numbers are also shown on the topic list.

How do I reply to a message?

To reply to a message, click the Post a Reply button shown on the relevant topic page. If you haven't already, you will be asked to login with your screen name and password.

Write your message in the box provided and choose to either post straight away or preview your contribution. Clicking the Preview button will show your post as it will appear in the forums. Double check what you've written for spelling, grammar and content - remember once it's up it's up. When you are happy with your message, click the Post Message button. If you haven't already logged in, you will then be taken through to the login page. Your message will appear at the end of the topic.

How do I create a new topic?

If you want to start a discussion on a new subject, you can create a new topic. First select the relevant forum from the list and click on its title to show the existing topics. Click the Start New Topic button. If you haven't already, you will be asked to login with your screen name and password.

Enter your topic title and message and click the Post Message button. Your message will appear in a new topic which will be available for other visitors to read and reply to. You can also give your topic a subtitle. This is a brief description which appears in the topic list and is used to give a better idea of what the topic is about.

Discussion Not Chat

Please note that the Whispy.com Forums are not a chat room. Chat rooms allow people to talk live. Discussion boards allow people to post and reply to messages.

Happy Posting!
